Mr. WeiDe Chen, French Chinese Artist, graduated from Shanghai Academy school of Fine Arts major in oil painting and pursued his further study in Professor Pierre Carron’s studio at ENSBA (Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts), later on he got an opportunity to learn stain glass study.
By bringing the classical European Glass art and traditional hand craft back to Moden China, Mr. WeiDe Chen started his Stain Glass studio in Shanghai 1993 and filled up the blank space of Chinese stain Glass industry since Tu Shan Wan Art Glass (a stain glass studio founded by a French Missionary in 1850) dissolved. Undoubtedly, WeiDe Chen, now, is absolutely the first man of Stain Glass industry in PRC.
Mr. Weide Chen’s work has been exhibited and collected by La Galerie Gautier at Epernay、Tokyo Metropolitan Art Musueum、La Galerie Bernheim – Jeune at Paris、La Galerie Bertrand de Gastines at Romorantin、Shanghai Liu Haisu Art Museum、Shanghai Art Museum、Shanghai Design Biennial etc. With all these favors form famous galleries and museums, WeiDe Chen steeped himself in his world of art study, by keep chasing art craft study and persisting himself in Classical Art. Therefore, all his work could fully deliever his understanding of romanticism, furthermore, a story telling confusions and transformations between Chinese and Western culture from his lifelong experience.
